Covid-19 Statement

UPDATE 13/10/2020

With the increased spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are again facing a very unusual set of circumstances. Our primary concern is the wellbeing of homeowners and our colleagues delivering to residential addresses.

Following recent announcements from the Government regarding a Tier system, we will be implementing delivery restrictions as the local/regional lockdowns dictate. This means our 2-Man room of choice delivery services into areas which are subject to these increased restrictions will revert to doorstep only delivery for the duration the restrictions are in place.

Areas subject to these restrictions at time of writing (13/10/2020)

- Any area in England in a level 3 lockdown, currently Liverpool city region including Liverpool, Knowsley, Wirral, St Helens, Sefton, Halton.

- Any area of Wales in local lockdown, see link https://gov.wales/local-lockdown

The process for doorstep delivery will be as follows:

- Our delivery team on arrival will ring/knock the door.

- Items will only be delivered to / collected from the Front Door of the entrance to the house, or the ground-floor communal area of flats.

- Our delivery drivers will self-sign to complete your order and take a photo of the items at the property. A signature will not be required.

In some locations (such as Scotland in its entirety), tradespeople are still being allowed to work in peoples homes. Despite this, please note that in areas experiencing these measures we will still only deliver to the doorstep, to ensure the safety of our staff and driving teams.

Since the beginning of March 2020 and the outbreak of Covid-19, here at Chiltern Oak we’ve been rigidly following government guidelines in relation to deliveries to protect everyone involved in our delivery process including you, our customers. This meant that we were temporarily only able to offer a 1-Man doorstep delivery service and our White Glove assembly services were withdrawn.

We’re pleased to announce that any 2-Man order on/after Wednesday 5th August 2020 will once again receive access to our ‘normal’ service, the level of service you’ve come to expect from us, with the re-introduction of our 2-Man delivery teams and White Glove assembly services reinstated. Please note however that room of choice delivery will not be possible in areas experiencing a local lockdown.

Our 2-Man delivery teams will be practising numerous safety measures adhering to the latest government guidelines, including but not limited to; maintaining a 2-metre distance at all times between delivery driver and customer, using masks, using photographs rather than signatures as a proof of delivery in some instances, and maintaining good hygiene with hand sanitiser and single-use gloves.

Our Delivery Policy (& Delivery Terms & Conditions)

OK so here's the deal. It doesn't matter what you order, how much you order, how much it costs or what corner of Mainland U.K you come from. At Chiltern Oak delivery is absolutely FREE. There are no hidden extras and no hidden charges. What's the catch I hear you ask? Well, there isn't one. We know we're not the only company to offer free delivery & others tend to inflate their prices to account for a delivery charge & but we're probably the only company in the U.K selling this oak furniture at these ludicrously low prices whilst still keeping delivery free of charge. How do we do it? We run a streamlined operation, control our own delivery fleet, and we're awesome!

There are four levels of delivery and it's fairly straightforward, you can see these below.

As a rule we don't deliver to locations that require use of a boat to reach them (Northern Ireland, Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Orkney Islands etc). However, we are able to facilitate some deliveries to outlying UK islands if the items being ordered are small. It's best to call us before placing the order to discuss this with us. Regarding larger items, we are happy to deliver to the most convenient mainland shipping port however it is then your responsibility to ensure they arrive safely at your location.-

Free Next Day Delivery

If you order a single item and it's relatively small such as a Bedside Table or Telephone Table, if you order before midday we'll endeavour to send these out same day with the intention of it being delivered the following working day. If the order is placed after midday it may have to wait until the following working day as we let our employees go home sometimes. In most instances these will be delivered by DPD. On the morning of delivery you will receive an email and text message from the delivery company advising a one-hour time slot for the delivery. Please note that if you order multiple-items eligible for next day delivery the entire order may transfer to our 2-man service. DPD are a courier and not a delivery company, hence they are only insured to deliver to the front door of your property and not to the room of your choice.

DPD will endeavour to deliver any order within the timescale stated, however sometimes due to circumstances beyond our (and their) control delays do sometimes occur (extreme weather, security checks, etc). In the unlikely event that this occurs the courier will deliver your item/s as quickly as possible. Please note that if you request to leave an item in a 'safe place', neither DPD nor Chiltern Oak Furniture can take responsibility for loss or damage occurred once an item has been delivered to said 'safe place'. This request is made at the customer's own risk.

Free 2-Day Delivery

We have recently introduced a new delivery method to help speed-up delivery of items that are slightly too big to be sent with a next day courier. Previously these items would have been sent on a 2-man delivery service with a 5-10 working day lead-time, however many items – if ordered individually – are now eligible to be sent on a courier service with a 2 day lead time. If an item is ordered before midday it will be dispatched on the same day, with delivery taking place two days after this. For items ordered after midday, the items will not be dispatched until the following day. This is a single-person delivery service to your front door and the courier is not insured to deliver the item to your room of choice. Please note that if you order multiple-items eligible for 2-day delivery, or combine next day and 2-day items on the same order, the entire order will transfer to our 2-man service with a slightly longer lead time. Please also note that if you request to leave an item in a 'safe place', neither the courier nor Chiltern Oak Furniture can take responsibility for loss or damage occurred once an item has been delivered to said 'safe place'. This request is made at the customer's own risk.

The majority of items being sent via this method are Living Room and Dining Room products. This is intentional as we don’t want our customers to have to carry items up a flight of stairs on their own. Sometimes it’s unavoidable, if your Living/Dining space is upstairs for example, but we’re passionate about maintaining our five star review score and ensuring our industry leading customer service isn’t compromised in any way, so we’ve carefully selected items we feel our customers will be able to safely manoeuvre on their own. If you feel you would prefer a delivery to the room of choice on our Standard 5-10 day 2-Man Delivery Service, you can upgrade your delivery by calling us on 01733 530285 for an additional charge of £15.

Free 2-Man Delivery

If you order multiple items and the value is less than £1,000 you'll receive our Standard 2 Man Delivery. Don't worry, we don't just put the item on your doorstep and walk off, we will take the item to the room of your choice to save you the hassle. Should you require the furniture to be unpacked and assembled (where applicable) please call us to place the order so that this can be added on by our staff (01733 530285). Packaging will also be removed. This costs £30 but is well worth it, particularly if D.I.Y isn't your forte. Personally I'm OK putting a Dining Table or Console Table together, but give me a Wardrobe and I'll be curled up in a ball in the corner of the room after 30 minutes begging the Mrs to come and help me! Did I really just say that? The lead time for our 2 Man Service for the majority of the UK is 5-10 working days with 95% of our deliveries being completed in less than 1 week, however, during busy periods this may extend by a couple of days if we have a large amount of orders from one location. Once receiving your order we will be in touch within 48 hours to provide an approximate delivery date, how's that for service?

Please note that it is the customer's responsibility to ensure that carpets are covered and any obstructions are removed prior to entry by our delivery men and women.

White Glove Delivery

As a thank you for customers that spend over £1,000 on a single order we'll automatically upgrade you. This one's on us! So how is White Glove Delivery different? Well basically a Mime Artist turns up and carries your…. oh no I don't think that's right. White Glove Delivery includes all items being taken to the room/s of your choosing, unpacking them and assembling them if required so you're all set to enjoy your new furniture straight away.

The White Glove Delivery Service also includes removal of packaging. However, please be aware that we only accept returns if the original packaging is retained. As a result, you can either opt to keep the boxes that the furniture is delivered in incase you wish to return it within 14 days, or alternatively we can take away the packaging on the understanding that you are happy with the furniture you've received and don't wish to return it.

Please note that prior to our delivery staff arriving, it is the customer's responsibility to remove any obstructions and ensure adequate space is available in which the items are being unpackaged and assembled. This will ensure that your items are unpackaged as safely and efficiently as possible.
